University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Professor/Associate Professor in Econometrics in School of Economics
The School of Economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China invites applications for a Professor / Associate Professor in Econometrics with a strong specialization in Machine Learning and Data Science. The appointment is expected to begin in August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. We seek an outstanding scholar with an internationally recognized research profile in econometrics, particularly in the development and application of machine learning methods in economics, finance, or social sciences. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record, demonstrated teaching and leadership experience and be able to contribute to advancing methodological innovation and empirical research at the frontier of econometrics and data science. We also welcome junior to mid‑career scholars who have demonstrated strong research potential and are ready to expand their academic leadership, contribute to strategic initiatives, and help shape the school’s future direction in quantitative and computational economics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the school’s strategic growth in data-driven research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and graduate training in computational methods. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vibrant, externally funded research program, teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to the intellectual leadership of the department and the university's broader data science initiatives.
The successful candidate will be initially offered a five-year contract. The remuneration package for the successful candidate will include a competitive salary package, as well as accommodation allowance, health insurance, schooling support, home flight, relocation & repatriation support, and paid annual leave.
