About the Information Hub

The HKUST(GZ) Information Hub focuses on addressing global challenges arising from human interactions with information and technology in an era of digital transformation. The Hub comprises four thrust areas: Artificial Intelligence(AI), Data Science and Analytics(DSA), Computational Media and Arts(CMA), and Internet of Things(IoT). In each of these areas, we are committed to providing a world-class education and conducting cutting-edge research with practical applications, with the purpose of not only advancing regional development but also making a global impact.

The HKUST(GZ) Information Hub is recruiting a course lecturer for 3020: English Communication I for Information Hub Programs, and 4020: English Communication II for Information Hub Programs.The courses are designed to enhance the practice of communicating technical and academic content in English, specifically within the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Media Arts, and the Internet of Things. Applicants with expertise in the following areas would be particularly welcome:

  • Development of English language curriculum and courses, preferably in scientific and technological topics, for Information Hub Undergraduates.
  • Rich experience in teaching English at the Undergraduate level.
  • Writing and presentation skills in research as a practitioner, preferably in scientific and technological topics.
  • Experience/commitment to using innovative teaching methodology.
  • Designing teaching materials 

Requirement: 

The course incorporates various teaching and learning formats including lectures, seminars, online courses, group discussions, and a term project. A PhD or master's degree in English Language Education is required; with knowledge/background in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Applicants should have proven teaching commitment and performance, experience and readiness in cross disciplinary curriculum and program design, and demonstrated service to the academic community and/or the public.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is highly competitive of international standard and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment to teaching-track faculty (TTF) will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to 3 years with a term review after 3 years of service, and is renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement and funding availability.
