About Us

Set in the historic “city of dreaming spires”, the University of Oxford has been ranked the world’s leading university for ten consecutive years. Combining centuries of tradition with world-changing innovation, Oxford offers the opportunity to contribute to research tackling global challenges, from sustainability to healthcare. You’ll join a diverse and inclusive community that supports your wellbeing, development, and ambitions.

The Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach (UAO) Office delivers programmes that inspire young people and support progression to higher education. Central to this work is the creation of high-quality, intellectually stimulating learning experiences that are both rigorous and engaging.

This role sits within the Outreach Learning Design team and is key to shaping the educational quality of UAO programmes. The postholder will bring strong classroom experience and pedagogical expertise to develop learning content across initiatives such as Oxplore – Home of Big Questions.

What We Offer

  • Working at Oxford provides a range of benefits, including:

  • Generous family leave (up to 26 weeks’ full-pay maternity/adoption and 12 weeks’ paternity/partner leave)
  • Hybrid and flexible working options
  • Excellent contributory pension scheme
  • Sustainable commuting options (cycle loan, discounted travel, season ticket loans)
  • Access to social, cultural, and sports clubs

About the Role

Working with non-specialist colleagues, you will act as a pedagogical expert, shaping and strengthening outreach learning. You will translate complex academic ideas into accessible, engaging content for young people, ensuring materials are structured, appropriate, and impactful.

The role requires a strong understanding of how students learn, alongside the ability to design content that balances challenge with creativity. This includes developing resources that use tone, narrative, and, where appropriate, humour to engage learners while maintaining academic integrity.

You will also support continuous improvement by reviewing content, using evaluation and evidence to refine approaches, and collaborating across teams and the collegiate University to align work with strategic priorities.

About You

  • Significant experience in UK secondary education (Key Stages 3–5)
  • Strong pedagogical expertise and ability to design high-quality learning experiences
  • Experience developing educational content (e.g. lesson plans, schemes of work)
  • Ability to make complex concepts accessible and engaging
  • Experience applying pedagogy beyond the classroom, supporting non-specialists
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage varied stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships

  • Your CV
  • Details of two referees
