The Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx) is a policy research centre within the Global School of Sustainability at LSE. CETEx develops independent research, policy analysis, technical assistance and capacity-building programmes that support policymakers, central banks, finance ministries and regulators in delivering sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies and financial systems. By combining academic research with practical policy expertise, CETEx helps decision-makers implement effective climate, nature and economic transition reforms around the world.
We seek to appoint a Policy Analyst (Transition Finance) to work on policy-oriented research projects within the Prudential & Transition Finance team of CETEx, contributing to a major programme on transition finance and the role of finance, financial markets and prudential regulation in enabling a credible, well-managed transition to a net-zero, resilient and sustainable economy. The work centres on how UK banks, investors, policymakers can support credible transition planning at entity and sectoral level, mobilise capital for the net-zero transition, and manage the associated financial and macroeconomic risks.
Candidates should hold a undergraduate degree in economics, finance, climate/environmental policy, environmental/ecological economics or a closely related field, and have an understanding of transition finance, financial markets, prudential regulation or risk management, and the role of finance in the net-zero transition, in the UK and other international contexts. Experience of conducting qualitative policy-oriented analysis on financial markets, prudential regulation, or environmental policy. Additionally, it is essential that candidates have experience conducting this analysis through effective collaborating with others, in a timely manner. It is essential that candidates have experience analysing and researching the financial and/or macroeconomic consequences of climate change and/or a green transition, and/or practical experience in financial markets, prudential regulation and/or risk management, for example gained within a central bank, financial supervisor or regulator, financial institution, or a comparable policy or industry setting. Candidates should have strong project management skills, with demonstrable experience of co-ordinating the activity of others. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical and external audiences, are essential.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
