Scientific Research

The successful candidate will directly or indirectly support all ongoing scientific projects in the Heard lab by performing their own research projects, by contributing to other lab member’s projects (using the techniques listed below) or by facilitating the environment for other lab member’s research (i.e. lab management, training). They will present their work in internal lab meetings. The techniques commonly employed in the Heard lab include:

  • Expert support and management of ongoing scientific projects (internal & collaborative) using techniques commonly employed in the Heard lab (see below)
  • Tissue culture of mouse embryonic stem cells and their derived counterparts
  • Cell biology (e.g. immunofluorescence, fluorescence in situ hybridization)
  • Biochemistry (e.g. Western blotting)
  • Molecular biology (e.g. molecular cloning, PCR, pyrosequencing)
  • Genome engineering (e.g. using CRISPR-Cas9)
  • Next-generation sequencing methods (e.g. RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Cut&Run, Hi-C)
  • Participating in generation of large-scale datasets using the mentioned techniques above
