The Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology (ICTM) is seeking a resourceful individual for the position of Facilities Manager (UCL Grade 7) reporting to the Institute Manager.

The Institute comprises of two Research Departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU).  It currently directly employs c300 staff and generates an annual income in excess of £20 million. The Institute also has two further units that are virtual members: The Cancer Research UK/UCL Cancer Trials Centre and the PRIMENT CTU. Over time, and building on the strengths of its Research Departments, the mission of the Institute is to become a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis and epidemiological studies. Key areas of focus for the Institute will include delivering innovations in trial methodology and training and developing the next generation of trialists.

The Role

This is an office-based role that has day to day direction and supervision of in-house staff and contractors to ensure the safe, efficient and effective deployment of staff and other resources; ensure that work is carried out in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.

The Facilities Manager is a key member of the Institute’s professional services management team, with significant responsibility for Health and Safety and Facilities issues within the MRC CTU at UCL and ICTM at both the strategic and operational levels. The post offers an exciting opportunity for someone to play a key role in the development and implementation of an estates strategy in an evolving Institute, as well as benefiting from the opportunities afforded by being part of the larger estates and administrative community of University College London (UCL).

Key Requirements

Successful candidate would have practical knowledge, understanding and application of relevant Health & Safety legislation in the UK, with strong administrative and organisations skills.

To have excellent oral and written communication skill, and ability to build relations and work with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally to the organisation, with the ability to influence others for a positive outcome.

The ability to multi-task effectively and prioritise workloads is essential given the variety of work and interactions on a daily basis.
