Job Title: Lecturer in Animation
School/Service: HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries
Responsible to: Academic Head
Job Purpose:
To contribute to teaching, pastoral support and guidance, academic development, course management, research development and scholarship within the Joint School in the area of Animation, particularly in creative and transferable thinking, ideas generation and developing an understanding of the requirements of professional standards for this subject domain, within the broader film and creative industries arena.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach Animation in an inspiring and engaging way and to contribute to achieving the academic objectives of the School through teaching, curriculum design, course development, research, and income generating activities.
- To act as a year tutor for the BA (Hons) Creative Animation programme delivered at HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries.
- To act as a module leader for a number of identified modules within the Animation degree programme.
- To undertake administrative duties relevant to module leadership (administer course registers, assessment records, learning programmes and other records).
- To engage with the recruitment of students and to provide appropriate advice on progression and career opportunities.
- To adhere to quality assurance and enhancement systems to ensure high standards are maintained and the student experience is enhanced.
- To contribute to the development of the School’s commercial activities, including consultancy, training, and funded projects.
- To participate in research as an individual or part of a team.
- To develop and consolidate contacts with industry/employers and other external organisations, both locally in China as well as in the UK.
- To maintain a close collaborative relationship with other Joint School and Faculty colleagues at UCLan and to promote, encourage and maintain high standards for students and staff.
- To undertake any other duties relevant to the Joint School’s activities and commensurate with the level of the post, as directed by the Academic Head/designated Course Leader.

- Experience of teaching Animation in a higher education environment, working flexibly across a range of programmes.
