(Salary is dependent on skills and experience; appointments are usually made at the lower end of the scale)

Location: Bloomsbury, London (Successful candidate must be based in the UK – for the duration of their contract)

Hours: 35 hours per week

About the role

The School of History, Religions and Philosophies invites applications for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Diaspora History starting in September 2022. This position is part of our strategic initiative to strengthen the departmental profile. The successful candidate will pursue transnational, transregional and interdisciplinary approaches to historical research and contribute to a research focus around the themes of migration, diaspora and environment. Beyond further building their own research profile, they will be committed to engaging actively with our research community. They will also contribute to the teaching and further development of our programmes. They will work together with colleagues to strengthen student and community engagement in innovative ways.

About you

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Specialist academic expertise in the relevant disciplines
  • Experience with grant applications
  • Proficiency in the languages relevant for their research
  • Ability to teach and supervise students from diverse backgrounds and experience at all levels to a high academic standard.
  • Proven administrative and organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Sound time management skills; the ability to plan and to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
