ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking to appoint a Professor of Education (0.6FTE) or Associate Professor of Education (FT) as a fixed term post until the 31st December 2026. The post holder will be expected to contribute to teaching and research and, as a senior appointment, to help support the research culture of the Department of Education and Childhood Studies. We have a wide range of multidisciplinary research interests, and staff in all phases of their academic careers, but with a consistent commitment to bridging the space between research and practice, an example of which can be seen in our Centre for Research Into Practice.
The post holder would be expected to contribute to our diverse teaching portfolio, as appropriate to their skills and expertise. They would also be expected to: supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student dissertations, act as personal tutor, and supervise doctoral students. We welcome application for people from any discipline of education, although we would especially welcome applicants with interests in digital education and/or learning technologies.
The post holder will be expected to have a doctoral degree in Education or an aligned subject, and a recognised teaching qualification such as Fellowship (or Senior Fellowship) in the HEA. The postholder should also have a record of successful supervision of undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral students.
Candidates should have a sustained and distinguished record of research and publication, for the Professorial post this should be world leading or internationally excellent. This must align with and enhance research in the Department of Education and Childhood studies. The post holder would be expected to have significant experience of leading or collaborating in funded research projects, both as an individual and as a member of a research team.
