Christ Church seeks to appoint an experienced Student Welfare Manager who will be the central figure in the college Welfare Team. They will take the lead role in ensuring that undergraduate and graduate students at Christ Church have access to support for physical and mental welfare and wellbeing.

The Welfare Manager will provide ongoing support for students in difficulty or in need of advice, as well as liaising with others, such as the college Nurse, the Counsellor and the college GP, in the handling of acute situations. They will also assist the Disability Lead in providing support for students with disabilities. They will work closely with the Senior Censor, where welfare concerns have an impact on academic matters, the Junior Censor (in charge of junior members’ discipline) and the Academic Registrar on matters relating to student Welfare.

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience, which could come from a variety of professional backgrounds, these might include having provided pastoral care in an academic setting, and/or counselling, and/or having dealt with a range of psychological, emotional and practical problems as a health or social care professional. Most of the work is clustered around the dates of full term. It is expected that this will include the period from mid-September to mid-December (university weeks -2 to 10 of Michaelmas term), from January to mid-March (weeks 0 to 10 of Hilary term) and midApril to early July (weeks -2 to 10 of Trinity term).

The post is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week. Salary is University Scale Grade 8 Salary £45,585 to £54,395 (with a discretionary range to £59,421).
