Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Creative Industries (from scholars whose research and training is in any discipline in the arts and humanities) in the Faculty of Arts (Ref.: 526032), to commence on September 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in an Arts discipline and also have relevant experience or qualifications in creative industries. Relevant areas of specialization include such fields as Anthropology, Sociology, Media, Film and Cultural Studies, Popular Culture, Literature, History, Art History. A digital approach to humanities, either methodologically or as a research focus involving AI or digital media (VR, animation, gaming, etc.) is an advantage. Candidates holding other qualifications may be considered for appointment as Professor of Practice/Associate Professor of Practice.
The successful candidate is expected to have a strong record of publication and potential for continued distinction in research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will also contribute to the leadership of an interdisciplinary global creative industries undergraduate programme at Faculty level. They will work with colleagues in different Schools in the Faculty on this initiative.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary for fixed-term appointment.
