This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and is offered on an open-ended basis.

This lectureship is based in the Division of Urban Studies and Social Policy in the School of Social and Political Sciences. You will conduct research on, and deliver teaching in, digital planning including principles and practices of digital planning systems, digital planning tools (e.g. digital twins, city information modelling, virtual reality and three-dimensional city mapping) and digital planning services. Furthermore, you will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.

Within Urban Studies and Social Policy, you will be based in the Urban Analytics subject group and make key contributions to the Place and Built Environment subject group. You will be expected to make a leading contribution to the RTPI-accredited MSc City Planning and MSc City Planning and Real Estate Development as well as contribute to MSc Urban Analytics and MSc Urban Transport. In addition, you will also be expected to play a key role in growing the Subject’s PhD programme, including seeking studentships from the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science, as well as seeking funding for your own research from UKRI and other funding bodies. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to join, or collaborate with, the ESRC-funded Urban Big Data Centre based in the Urban Analytics subject.
