We are looking to recruit Lecturers and Senior Lecturers to join us at our friendly and supportive Birmingham Campus located in the Jewellery Quarter. We are seeking qualified solicitors, barristers or experienced paralegals who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience, or experienced law lecturers/academics with legal practice knowledge/experience.

We are open to applicants in all areas of law, but have a particular need for applicants who are willing to teach corporate law.

These are full time permanent positions. We will also consider applicants for part time working with a minimum commitment of 3 days per week.

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at The University of Law, you will:

  • Teach and assess across the University of Law course portfolio in such subjects assigned to you. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of written and oral skills and giving individual feedback on students’ performances.
  • Assist in the preparation of assignments and assessments.
  • Participate in course design and review.
  • Act as an academic coach to students, including being available and willing to discuss students’ problems as they arise, their performance and academic progression
  • Assist in marketing, widening participation and extra-curricular events.
  • Supervise student dissertations and research projects.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • Degree (any subject) or equivalent
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PgCHE)*
  • (For Senior Lecturers – Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and PgCHE are both required)
  • Qualified solicitor or qualified barrister or Paralegal or A relevant academic/pedagogical/teaching background with practical legal knowledge/experience
  • Engaging, professional and committed to teaching
  • Experience of teaching in a Higher Education setting or an educational establishment (desirable).

*If you are applying for the Lecturer position and do not currently have/are not undertaking a PgCHE or an equivalent qualification, it is a requirement that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), within 18 months of passing probation.
