About You
You’ll have qualifications or experience in electrical services and an understanding of electrical technical principles having carried out electrical installation and maintenance works using domestic, commercial and industrial equipment.
You’ll be responsible for supervising our contracts for outsourced electrical services to ensure that all statutory, planned and reactive maintenance is carried out by contractors to university standards and represents value for money. This appointment will focus on electrical services contracts; we have others in the Contracts team who supervise outsourced mechanical or building fabric services. Depending on your area of technical expertise and interest, there may be opportunity, if you wish, to supervise mechanical and/or building fabric services contracts in future.
It’s a varied role where you’ll also have the opportunity to be out in the field providing technical advice and support to university staff and contractors and writing up reports with your findings and recommendations on service continuity issues in your electrical area of expertise. You’ll also assist with the development of procedures designed to improve the operation of contracted services and be comfortable with the admin side of the role, maintaining records and documentation.
