We are looking for an outstanding individual to undertake independent research in Invasive Salmonella Vaccinology in Malawi.
You will work closely with Professor Melita Gordon within Liverpool University and at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Programme, to undertake high quality clinical research, investigating relevant and impactful questions in Vaccinology and Vaccine Preventable Diseases (infectious disease epidemiology; mathematical modelling; immunology and immunogenicity; clinical trial evaluation of vaccines; vaccine impact and policy), with a particular strategic focus on Invasive Salmonella Disease. You will be expected to interact with a wide range of disciplines, have good communication and team leadership experience and skills, and have academic expertise or training that will allow you to set up and run large clinical trials, investigational studies, and field epidemiological studies, and support large-scale primary data collection and analysis in Malawi. Prior relevant research experience in LMIC settings is highly desirable for this post.
The post-holder will be committed to being resident or spending significant periods of time in Malawi, working to lead and support research teams and studies, building local partnerships with stakeholders, and contributing to academic leadership and the research environment at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Programme.
Applicants will be clinical academics, have a PhD in epidemiology, medical microbiology, infection, public health, or another relevant discipline, with an active postdoctoral track-record, and be the holder of a Clinical Lecturer or equivalent position. Applicants will additionally hold a CCST in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, Gastroenterology, Public Health or another relevant specialty. Prior clinical experience in LMIC settings is highly desirable for this post.
