We are looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the team of Professor Cheng-Hock Toh on an NHS founded project.
The successful applicant with an interest in studying the structure and function of large complexes that relate to blood coagulation in critical illness will join a world leading multidisciplinary team that includes clinicians and basic scientists that aims to carry out bench to bedside research. Our main research focus utilizes our strong clinical links within the NHS to improve patient care in both haematology and critically illness, particularly in intensive care units (ICU). This research utilizes basic molecular, cellular and protein biochemical methodologies to comprehensively undertake bench-to-bedside research.
With the collaboration of Chemistry Departments, the microclots will be characterised firstly by scanning and transmission electronic microscopy. In partnership with the Cryo-EM team of Leeds University, the successful applicant will also be able to try to solve the 3D structure of histone H4-fibrinogen microclots.
You will have a PhD in Biochemistry or related discipline. Laboratory experience with protein biochemistry, structural biology, EM or Cryo-EM would be advantageous.
The post is available for 3 years fixed term. Start date as near as possible to 1 July 2024.
