Location: Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Dr, Headington, Oxford OX3We have a new and exciting opportunity happening at the Department of Biomedical Services, University of Oxford. We are looking for a Pre-Clinical Imaging Technical Lead Scientist to join our Pre-Clinical Imaging facility based at the Radiobiology Research Institute (RRI) housed at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.

The Pre-Clinical Imaging facility provides technical and scientific support for internal and external users. We have a broad range of scanning modalities which includes MRI, PET/SPECT/CT, luminescence and ultrasound.

This is a full-time position with a 5-year fixed term in the first instance.

You will play a leading role in managing the Pre-Clinical Imaging facility and its team and will report to the Director of Biomedical Services, working closely with the Biomedical Services Senior leadership team.

The postholder will have responsibility for the implementation of the strategic development of the imaging facility as defined by an Academic Steering Group. The Pre-Clinical Imaging Lead Scientist will be an internationally recognised authority in their field, with primary responsibility for the successful delivery of research projects, as well as maintaining collaborations and developing the commercial activity of the imaging facility.

The post holder will lead the imaging facility, delegating ongoing responsibilities, contributing to the overarching vision, and managing staff performance.

About you

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject, e.g. biomedical sciences, biomedical imaging, radiopharmacy. Have extensive experience of PET/SPECT/CT imaging techniques and equipment including experience of quality control, maintenance and management of such systems.

You will also have a demonstrable ability to lead and motive a team of research staff as well as experience of complex financial management. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

Holding a home office PIL or PPL and experience in small animals in vivo experiments is desirable.
