The School of Psychology & Neuroscience is looking for a Research Scientist to make a leading contribution to develop social interaction and communication technologies in the Centre for Social, Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, including technologies to generate 3D dynamic human social signals, such as facial expressions, body movements, and voices, multimodal signals and dyadic interactions, plus 3D scenes and other socially related multimodal signals, the use and development of AI-related technologies to support these developments. The successful candidate will be required to make a leading contribution to the formulation and submission of international-standard research publications and funding proposals and make a significant contribution to the management and direction of the ambitious research programs within cSCAN as opportunities allow.

cSCAN members operate in a research-rich capacity, with teaching-rich staff leading in the innovation and delivery of education.

Research focus. cSCAN brings together international researchers across a range of complementary disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science and Engineering to work together to address central questions in social, cognitive, and affective science.

The School of Psychology and Neuroscience is a world-class research and teaching unit situated within the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences. It has recently been rated 4th in the UK and 1st in Scotland, REF 2021 research output in Times Higher Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience category.

The University of Glasgow is one of the world’s top 100 universities and a member of the UK’s research-intensive Russell Group. As well as housing a vibrant and growing academic community, the university is also located in a beautiful setting with many local cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants, and there is a thriving cultural scene in the city.
