About us
The Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (CSEM) comprises the BSc, iBSc and MSc programmes in Sports Medicine, Exercise & Health based at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH). The CSEM (head, Professor Mark Hamer) is an integral part of the Bloomsbury Campus (Research Department for Targeted Intervention) of the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science. Current research foci within CSEM include physical activity and population health, sports injury and musculoskeletal pathology and injury prevention, sports medicine and athlete health. Our research addresses real medical and public health needs, and has demonstrable impact on national policy and practice
About the role
We are seeking a research associate to contribute to a programme of work within the Obesity theme of University College London Hospitals Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) that focuses on experimental medicine. The present scope of the theme includes investigation of ‘lifestyle’ for disease prevention, particulary physical activity behaviour.
The post holder will undertake a series of studies to develop novel approaches for promoting lifestyle physical activity.
About you
The right candidate is expected to have experience in developing and implementing physical activity interventions using behaviour change techniques and digital health approaches. Experience in physical activity measurement, wearables, public engagement and mixed methods approaches is desirable. Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams across clinical and academic settings will constitute an advantage.
The post holder must have a higher academic degree e.g. PhD, or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications.
Role specific details: This role is available from immediately for 12 months in the first instance.
