Duties of the Role
The Estates Management Section are currently looking for a Mobile Maintenance Operative (Mechanical Bias). The successful candidate will be based at our Southend City Centre site and will occasionally travel to cover duties at our Loughton site (travel expenses paid). You will be responsible for all types of mechanical system on site carrying out installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance across our planned preventative maintenance requirement as well as our reactive maintenance requirement. You will be trained in very basic electrical tasks and will be required to undertake basic electrical tasks (such as wiring your own pump). The successful candidate will manage external contractors where necessary and also take on small projects. There will also be a requirement for you to work under your own initiative and order your own parts etc (full training provided).
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have completed a recognised and registered Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent programme of training. The award of an NVQ in Installing and Commissioning Mechanical Systems and Equipment at level 3 or equivalent (we would be willing to have a conversation with someone in the final year of an apprenticeship or equivalent programme of training). Possession of a full UK valid driving licence (or equivalent) is essential for this post.
You should possess previous experience of maintaining complex mechanical heating, hot water and ventilation systems. Proven experience of working with the installation, maintenance and testing of mechanical plant and equipment and a good knowledge of the regulations.
