About us
The Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (CSEM) comprises the BSc, iBSc and MSc programmes in Sports Medicine, Exercise & Health based at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH). The CSEM (head, Professor Mark Hamer) is an integral part of the Bloomsbury Campus (Research Department for Targeted Intervention) of the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science. Current research foci within CSEM include physical activity and population health, sports injury, musculoskeletal pathology and injury prevention, sports medicine and athlete health. Our research addresses real medical and public health needs, and has demonstrable impact on national policy and practice.
About the role
We are seeking a research associate to contribute to a programme of work on physical activity and cancer. The recently formed Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting and Sleep consortium (ProPASS) comprises a range of international cohorts with thigh worn accelerometery. We aim to use ProPASS to examine the dose-response relationships between physical behaviours and incident cancer and mortality. We will use both established and novel statistical approaches to understand the independent, joint, and cumulative associations of physical behaviours with cancer risk.
