An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the Citizens Academy based in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to support the Public and Patient Engagement and Involvement activities within our research and teaching programmes.

This role is responsible for the operational oversight of the Citizens Academy, to provide patient and public support, advice and infrastructure to research teams and educational activities. You will assist in the management and administrative aspects of a portfolio of PPIE activities across the research groups, with collaborating institutions to ensure the cohort of research projects and teaching activities run smoothly.

You will be responsible for upholding and championing PPI policy and best practice according to the agreed guidance for the achievement of project milestones and targets. You will have responsibility for advising and supporting research teams and teaching staff on PPIE, and for making recommendations to the Group Leader/Principal Investigator. There will be a particular focus on the development of PPI training in teaching activity across the Faculty’s teaching programmes.

This is a shared role and you will be supported by a part-time Research Coordinator, the FMH Research Support Administrator, the Citizens Academy Administrative Assistant and you will work in close collaboration with the Director of the Citizens Academy.

There is scope for innovation within the role as the Citizens Academy is a dynamic and developing initiative. You should have a passion for engaging with patients and the public and be able to communicate sensitively with diverse groups to maximise inclusivity.

You will have a graduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. Advanced skills directly relating to this research area and previous research experience would be advantageous.
