ABOUT THE ROLE
The Bevan Commission is the leading think tank for health and care in Wales, hosted and supported by Swansea University. The Commission provides independent, authoritative advice on health and care to the Welsh Government and leaders in NHS Wales, the UK and beyond. It aims to ensure that health and care in Wales are sustainable whilst remaining true to the principles of the NHS as established by Aneurin Bevan.
The Commission draws upon the expertise of its 24 internationally renowned Commissioners to develop thought pieces to inform Welsh Government policy. We also help translate our thinking into explicit action through our Bevan Innovators and other innovative means. The Bevan Commission has experienced great success with its Bevan Exemplars programme and now seeks to test out effective approaches to support widespread adoption and spread of successful innovations.
The Research and Development Lead will provide leadership of the research and development function at the Bevan Commission. They will be responsible for leading and coordinating all research activities undertaken by the Commission. They will provide professional leadership to all staff/contractors undertaking research, including the Adopt and Spread researcher(s). They will be an integral part of the senior team within the Bevan Commission, representing the Commission both internally (within Swansea University) and externally as required. They will also act as a key link between the Bevan Commission and its work and the wider research and development interests within the department and the wider university.
The role holder should have a successful track record of being able to work as part of a team, utilising excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be expected to provide exceptional customer care, demonstrating outstanding judgement to successfully deliver outcomes within agreed timescales and to the required standard.
