Short summary

This is a key role that helps facilitate access to human materials and data, and supports researchers through their initial project set-up ensuring all contractual, legal, governance and ethical requirements have been met. The post-holder will be responsible for having oversight of project requests and their progress through our internal (and relevant external) processes, and helping to overcome barriers. This is a new opportunity that comes at an exciting time of growth for human biology research at the Crick.

Key Responsibilities

Project management:

  • To lead on processes that facilitate the set-up of human research projects within the Crick.
  • Act as a point-of-contact for user requests, ensuring that queries are responded to efficiently, followed-up accordingly, expectations managed and issues raised with the Head of Human Research Governance as required. 
  • Lead on processes to gather initial project information, to assist with the triage of human studies, identifying key regulatory and governance requirements and ensuring the are allocated to the appropriate teams. This is likely to include in-depth conversations with science staff about their research plans, and helping in the completion of screening tools and forms.
  • Maintaining a project database and contemporaneous records for projects undergoing internal review processes. Contributing to the further development of the database to ensure it meets the requirements of the Human Research Governance Team.

General:

  • Help to develop and implement processes, striving for continual improvement of the service.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and records are kept, investigating and developing improvements where needed.
  • Ensure high-quality results are delivered and assist in the provision of expert analysis and interpretation of these data.
  • Develop methods to track and monitor key performance indicators to measure success.
