Senior Research Officer

University of Essex - Department of Economics

The Department of Economics at the University of Essex is a leading research department with strength in all fields of economics. We are 4th in UK for research power in economics and econometrics (Times Higher Education research power measure, REF 2021). Our Department houses two research centres and five broad research clusters: applied, behavioural-experimental-development, econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics. Duties of the Role

This is a full-time, two-year post to work on the Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant ‘Methods for Spatial Nonparametric Econometrics’, led by Professor Abhimanyu Gupta in the Department of Economics at the University of Essex. The successful applicant will assist in the delivery of the grant objectives and work closely with Professor Gupta.

Qualifications and Skills required

Applicants must be proficient in econometric and statistical work using Stata and at least one out of R or Matlab. Applicants must also be comfortable with handling datasets, organizing data and in replication of existing papers using such data. Familiarity with econometric theory would be welcome but is not a requirement.

The successful applicant must be able to start on 9th September 2024, and must submit (although not necessarily defend) their PhD thesis before this date to be eligible for the post.

This is a fixed-term contract due to the post being established to deliver a specific project/task finite in nature with a grant funding source.
