Are you looking to join a dynamic and collaborative technical team within the Veterinary Pathology space? We are seeking a motivated and practical individual to join our Technical team here at Surrey. We are dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in teaching, research, and commercial activities, all aimed at advancing veterinary science and promoting the health of both animals and humans.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with a dynamic team to support teaching, research, and commercial activities within our state-of-the-art facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining laboratory facilities, preparing cadavers for Pathology examination, and providing essential support to our Pathologists, Residents, and students. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of tasks and interact with students, academics, and research colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and prepare laboratory facilities for teaching, research, and commercial activities.
  • Prepare cadavers for Pathology examination and assist Pathologists during teaching sessions.
  • Set up equipment, receive submissions, and support students in their practical learning activities.
  • Carry out schedule 1 killing methods for both teaching and research (with full in-house training provided).
  • Engage in interaction with technicians, students, academics, and research colleagues, with some processing and administration work.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in pathology and a practical approach to work. While prior experience in a laboratory environment is beneficial, it is not essential, as training will be provided. If you are passionate about making a difference in veterinary science and eager to contribute to our collaborative team, we would love to hear from you.

In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays, a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery. The University embraces hybrid and flexible working.
