About the Role
Applications are sought for a Zebrafish Laboratory Technician to support the ongoing work in zebrafish behavioural science in Caroline Brennan’s laboratory at The School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences, Queen Mary University of London.

The post holder will:

  • Provide specific technical support for experiments in zebrafish behavioural biology and learning.
  • Assist with genotyping of fish lines.
  • Keep the lab well stocked, orderly and clean.
  • Assist with data analysis and preparation of figures for scientific publications.
  • Support staff with particular non-scientific tasks, including ordering of materials, stocktaking of reagents, archiving samples, updating and maintaining documents relating to health and safety in the lab.
  • Liaise with lab members to find out which particular experiments need support and allocate efforts accordingly.

About You
The prospective technician should have a BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences or related subject or extensive work experience in a related laboratory technician role and a good understanding of the concepts of behavioural or neurobiological procedures. Experience of behavioural experiments, ideally zebrafish or other fish species is desirable. You will have good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical processes to students and staff and a commitment to providing a high-quality service to lab members.
