The Opportunity:
This post is full-time (40 hours per week). Applications, from registered clinicians, are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in the National CJD Research & Surveillance Unit (NCJDRSU), Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh.
The post is part of the NCJDRSU’s programme of surveillance of CJD in the UK, with associated research. The principal duties involve the clinical assessment of referred suspect CJD cases, the collection of clinical and epidemiological data, and associated research. The post is with the University of Edinburgh, but an honorary clinical contract with NHS Lothian will be awarded. There are opportunities for training, teaching and clinical session attendance within the Edinburgh Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
The post is, in the first instance, from 01.06.24, although there is open to individual discussion. The present end date is 31.03.25; depending on the possible renewal of funding, the post might be extended for a further year.
Your skills and attributes for success:
An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the General Medical Council.
Salary will be determined on the basis of previous service in the NHS training grades. Normally you will be matched to your current incremental point or nearest equivalent. If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and are employed in a clinical post it may be possible for you to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.
