The Role

The University of London is a leading provider of online, distance learning. In 1858, we made our degrees available to study anywhere in the world. Today, we have more than 40,000 students in over 190 countries, studying on 100+ degrees, diplomas and certificates. 

The University of London Worldwide is responsible for the development and delivery of our distance learning programmes and is seeking to appoint one Senior New Business Manager to join the Global Business Development Directorate.

The Directorate of Global Business Development is responsible for the commercialisation of the University portfolio of courses and education services, the administration & support of its global network of Recognised Teaching Centres (RTC’s) and the administration and support of its Federation Members.

The Senior New Business Manager (SNBM) is responsible for driving the expansion of commercial opportunities for the University’s extensive portfolio of short courses, PG Certs, training, and degrees across the globe. The role will be responsible for the development of best-practice strategic business assessments for the active promotion of the portfolio to specialised educational vendors globally. Specifically, the role will aim to expand the University’s current global network of Recognised Teaching Centres (RTC’s) and actively seek new additional routes, mechanisms, and market opportunities for the University to capture new business. The SNBM will work with Federation Members of the University of London, to improve product development, service delivery, and the market awareness of the educational courses under development. The SNBM will develop an expert market intelligence database in the pursuit of the commercial strategies to expand the client & consumer end-users of the University’s extensive educational course portfolio. The negotiation of optimal commercial terms with potential clients will require that the SNBM has an expert understanding of the global market space in distance/blended and on-line learning.

The post requires strong negotiation skills, strategic commercial vision of the distance, blended and online service sector in a global context, and some experience of operating in an international environment.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office. Typically, the majority of employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings.
