Planning, Performance and Strategic Change (PPSC) supports business planning, strategy development, and programme and change management within the University of Nottingham. Its Projects and Change team oversees the Strategic Investment Portfolio of major change programmes and is seeking to employ a programme manager to continue delivery of its Zero Carbon Cluster Programme, a key initiative in the University’s research strategy. Working with leading academics, this role will take a proactive, partnership approach to accelerate the translation of zero carbon research into high-impact commercial and policy solutions – in partnership with industry and government.

As Programme Manager, you will:

  • Support and promote the delivery of the University’s Strategic Investment Portfolio, a collection of key strategic projects and programmes which are delivering major change. This role will have specific responsibility for our zero carbon programme.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders to enable projects and programmes to deliver the identified outputs, outcomes, and benefits.
  • Focus on ensuring the projects and programmes in scope provide value for money and underpin the University’s strategic ambition.

 You will be:

  • Experienced in managing and coordinating projects and change, with a sound understanding of project and programme management methodologies and techniques.
  • Able to quickly establish your credibility and form positive and sound working relationships, interacting with a divergent mix of people and personalities.
  • An effective communicator, able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
  • A strong planner, able to organise and motivate teams.
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently under pressure managing your time effectively, delivering results in time and to a high standard.

This role is available on a fixed term basis for 2 years. Hours of work are part time (29 hours per week).

Applications require a Curriculum Vitae and two-page statement demonstrating that you meet the criteria for the role to be uploaded.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
