Job description
We Are The People (WATP) is a small research team of disabled academics and non-disabled allies engaged in disability research and disability activism. We've been awarded a five-year, £1million grant from the Wellcome Trust to explore issues which affect disabled people in South West England.
We are seeking to recruit a Project Assistant to work closely with the Project Manager, to support the successful delivery of each of the research strands, events, networks and to raise the profile of the grant through both internal and external communications. (This is a part time role, 14.8 hours per week)
About the role
As our Project Assistant, you will help to provide day to day general project administrative support to each of the research strands. You will be responsible for handling data, answering general enquiries about the project, booking materials and travel for project participants and workshops and advocating for the project both internally and externally with the relevant communication outlets. In addition, you will support with project presentations and recruitment, as and when required and respond to questions from the general public about the project, verbally and in writing.
About you
You will have a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and have experience of working in a diverse team, including disabled people, academic researchers, grass roots organisations and gatekeepers. You will have experience of record-keeping (e.g., minutes of meetings), report-writing (e.g., writing/(e.g., writing/editing interim research project reports) as well as knowledge of financial matters, including processing claims, purchasing equipment, or booking travel (etc) on behalf of partners. You will show the ability to work collaboratively with the project manager, taking direction but also working independently and responding to challenges as they arise. You will be flexible and work well under pressure in a busy environment and will be able to deliver presentations with confidence.
