The role

The role's focus will be to support undergraduate and post-graduate taught students in acquiring core prototyping skills through practical workshops run in and adjacent to the curriculum as well as supervising the day-to-day operations of the Innovation Laboratory

What will you be doing?

  • Work with key stakeholders to plan, design, and deliver Prototyping training  sessions, both in taught classroom sessions and workshops
  • Supervise and monitor the operational activities of the Innovation laboratory to ensure a stimulating learning environment.
  • Carry out induction activities as required for students/staff into the Induction Laboratory activities, maintaining records as required
  • Operate, service and maintain and calibrate specialist equipment
  • Source and maintain stocks and records in relation to teaching materials, consumables and equipment
  • Write risk assessments and understand/follow all relevant Health and Safety guidelines

You should apply if

In addition to the requirements outlined in the person specification, you have demonstrable strength in the following areas:  

  • Experience using paper and cardboard prototyping methods; including scalpels and glue guns.
  • Experience facilitating classroom and workshop settings
  • Awareness of the role of prototyping in both user research as a tool for both discovering problems and validating potential solutions.

Experience using additional prototyping methods; including 3D Printing, Laser-Cutting, service design prototyping, Lego, Digital Mock-ups (code or no-code), and media production are desirable.

The successful candidate(s) will be required to complete a First Aid training qualification.
