We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated Laboratory Officer to join our dedicated, professional and friendly Facilities team based at the Nuffield Department of Medicine Research Building (NDMRB). You will take responsibility for supporting the day-to-day monitoring of the laboratory facilities. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will support them in their duties to manage safety in the laboratories. 

You will assist with procuring and maintaining laboratory equipment. You will support with ensuring that the laboratories are maintained as a safe, clean and professional environment at all times. The Laboratory Officer provides a crucial interface between researchers, the University and contractors. You will support clinical research groups in the management of their safety responsibilities as per Oxford University policy, guidance and rules, working under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager to ensure that all work in the laboratories complies with the applicable regulations concerning all hazards, including human and non-human tissue, and specifically comply with requirements governed by GMO, HTA and biohazard safety. 

To be successful, you will have experience of working in clinical research laboratories as well as having working knowledge of health & safety requirements. You will have excellent organisational and time management skills, as well as strong communication skills. A keen eye for detail will be critical to this role, as well as experience of working in a changing, fast-paced environment. This role requires the willingness to work unsociable hours as the work demands from time to time.
