With are offering an exciting opportunity for a Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry, to provide their expertise within a primary care clinical undergraduate teaching model in the South-West Peninsula. This role will involve contributing to dental education, research, professionalism leadership, clinical education in a primary care setting and assessment delivery/strategy across our highly successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role requires a self-motivated individual to help maintain high standards in the school, exemplified by Peninsula School being currently #1 in the Guardian League Table 2024, #3 in the 2023 NSS and recipient of the Times Education Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community in 2024. The applicant would be expected to be of national and international standing in their field of expertise.

This clinical dental educational role, will involve high-level pedagogical input into the clinical curriculum at Peninsula Dental School (PDS) for both BDS and DTH students, within our integrated teaching model. The successful applicant will also drive forward research-led education and interprofessionalism at undergraduate level, and assessment databases, as well as partake in other clinical teaching and engagement activities within the school. It is further essential for the applicant to have expertise in professionalism. This will ensure alignment and assist transfer to the new GDC Safe Practitioners Framework, which has a strong emphasis on behavioural skills.

The person suitable for this role will be a GDC registered dentist (BDS), with an interest in primary care restorative dentistry and periodontology. You will also have an appropriate postgraduate teaching qualification, previous experience working in an academic environment, and have been involved in curriculum development. You will further have had previous experience in dental research aligning with PDS interests, and experience of professionalism and assessment within an academic University setting. You must have excellent communication skills and be prepared to work as a team to achieve the shared goals of the School.

This role will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours a week on a fixed-term basis for a period of 3 years and 9 months due to funding.

A relocation package may be available to the successful candidate, conditions apply.
