This full time, permanent post is available in the Research Governance, Ethics and Compliance team in University Corporate Services (Compliance and Risk).
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
About you
Are you an experienced competent advisor in home office licensing and ASPA compliance? Do you have experience in advising on complex ethical considerations? Do you enjoy working in a research environment advising on legislative and regularity requirements? About the role
You will be competent advisor for the University, on all matters relating to licensing requirements for research involving animals. You will act as the Home Office Liaison Contact with the Home Office Inspectorate to initiate and facilitate a dialogue between inspectors, BRF and its users to achieve great science with the highest standards of animal welfare, applying best practice, and ensure compliance. You will managing a broad portfolio and be responsible for ensuring that compliance oversight mechanisms, and processes are in place for research that falls under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA) and other activities in alignment with the relevant applicable regulations and institutional policy requirements.
You will be work between Biological Research Facilities, for daily compliance and reporting related activity under ASPA and the Research Ethics, Governance and Compliance Team, where you will be responsible for ensuring relevant formal ethics review activity occurs in accordance with requirements under the oversight of the AWERB and informed by the latest 3Rs approaches (Reduction, Replacement and Refinement).
