Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual to join our teaching activities in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) to deliver and assess Graduate Apprenticeships (GA) undergraduate courses.

Detailed Description

The post holder will be expected to contribute to teaching and scholarship, academic administration, and course enhancements. This post will also involve taking the role of workplace assessor and this will necessitate liaison and visits to our apprentices at the various participating employers located in Scotland. Due to the unique nature of this post, previous experience of teaching and work-based assessment coupled with industrial experience would be advantageous. 

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder is required to:

  • Contributing to teaching (lectures, tutorials, workshops, and laboratories) covering topics in Instrumentation, Control and Electronics Engineering.
  • Converting materials in Instrumentation, Control and Electronics Engineering into appropriate learning format. 
  • Liaising with relevant academic staff in EPS and carrying out various other related small-scale administrative tasks as required.
  • Supporting the GA programmes and other relevant areas by carrying out assessment and moderation of coursework and examination marking as required.

Essential Criteria 

Applicants must have:

  • A first degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Experience of teaching in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Excellent team working, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prepare clearly written and presented learning and teaching materials.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Appropriate IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
