About King’s College London

King's College London is one of the top 10 UK universities in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2018/19), and is also one of England’s oldest and most prestigious institutions. King's has an outstanding reputation for world-class teaching and cutting-edge research. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), eighty-four per cent of research at King’s was deemed ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (3* and 4*).

Our vision is to make the world a better place. For almost 200 years, King’s educators and researchers have been serving society in London and across the globe. The discovery of the structure of DNA; pioneering research to better understand autism and develop life-changing therapies; articulating the links between air pollution and major health concerns; developing cutting-edge 5G technology; driving research and supporting programs that encourage entrepreneurial thinking – these are all ways that we are having a transformational impact on modern society.

Our intellectually rigorous teaching environment is coupled with a commitment to providing a rich and supportive student experience. We have more than 33,500 students (of whom nearly 13,500 are postgraduates, with 1,000 students enrolled in online masters courses) from 150 countries worldwide, meaning that students are part of a truly international community. Our 8,500 members of staff collaborate with students to help them get the most out of their degree.

King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) is a pioneering global collaboration between one of the world's leading research-led universities and three of London's most successful NHS Foundation Trusts, including leading teaching hospitals and comprehensive mental health services.

We’re proud of our distinguished international reputation in the humanities, law, the sciences, psychiatry, medicine, dentistry, nursing, and the social sciences. Our four Thames-side campuses in central London, and at Denmark Hill, place us at the centre of leading global conversations in policy, government, law, culture, religion, business and medicine. But we’re also truly part of the boroughs we live in. We use our expertise to identify the challenges affecting our communities and collaborate with them to address local issues, which can then be used as an example for the rest of the UK and the world.

Our Strategic Vision 2029 seeks to inspire and support those who will rise to the challenge of solving the world’s most pressing problems.

Today, we seek to define the university of the future.
