Queen Mary University of London

Based in the heart of London’s vibrant East End, Queen Mary University of London is a leading Russell Group university with a history dating back to 1785. Our self-contained Mile End campus is one of the largest in the capital and a 15-minute tube ride from Central London. Our campuses provide a welcoming and vibrant place to learn, with state-of-the-art facilities, exceptional teaching and a dynamic student life – all situated in one of world’s most exciting, culturally rich and economically significant cities.

We are also a proudly global institution. While our home is in London – with five campuses in Mile End, Whitechapel, Charterhouse Square, West Smithfield and Lincoln’s Inn Fields – we also have sites in China, Malta and Paris. The QS World Universities Rankings place us in the top 9% of universities worldwide, and our reputation attracts brilliant staff and students from over 170 countries. So students from round the corner rub shoulders with people from all over the globe, and you will have the chance to meet and work with people from many different cultures, traditions and backgrounds. No matter who you are, you can and will find your place here within our Queen Mary community.

We are proud to be a world-leading research-intensive university, ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of our research outputs (REF 2014). Whether discovering new planets, developing ground-breaking treatments for cancer or building the case for the Living Wage, the impact of our research is felt worldwide. It also informs our teaching; students at Queen Mary are taught by world-class academics who are leaders in their field.

At Queen Mary we offer over 250 undergraduate degree programmes across 14 academic Schools. Through our flexible modular system, students can tailor their degree to broaden their range of skills – a great way to stand out from the crowd in today’s competitive job market. Employers value our students, with 93 per cent of all our graduates in employment or further study 15 months after graduating (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020). Our English and Law courses are ranked in the global top 50 (QS Subject rankings 2021).

It is this continual commitment to excellence that underpins our Strategy 2030, based on our two main core areas of activity: education and the student experience, and research and innovation. We are committed to creating an environment where students and staff flourish and feel proud to be part of the University. Our goal is to be the most inclusive university of its kind anywhere, and we are proud to open the doors of opportunity to anyone who has the ability to succeed with us, wherever they come from.
