Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh is a research led institution specialising in high quality research that touches people’s everyday lives. The University has particular expertise in health psychology and interdisciplinary research into related therapies.

QMU is making funds available for up to 6 PhD studentships in our distinctive research areas. Successful applicants can look forward to:

  • all fees waived for three years and support with living costs;
  • membership of both a community of experienced academics and our Graduate School;
  • training, support and dedicated supervision throughout your studies.

International applicants will also be considered for support with fees, through the Scottish Overseas Research Students Award Scheme.

Applications are invited for research projects in the following areas:

  • Impact on families of long term health conditions
  • Determinants of food choice and health-related behaviours in obesity
  • The role of arts therapies in treating depression
  • The role of shame in talking therapies
  • Memory and communication
