Westminster Business School is one of London’s leading centres for business education, with a large and diverse staff base and extensive teaching, business, consultancy and research achievements. Located in the heart of London close to Baker Street Station and Regent’s Park, we attract students from a wide range of countries from around the world.
The Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods is responsible for the provision of teaching, research and knowledge transfer covering all aspects of economics and quantitative methods. It supplies over 30 general and specialist modules to the School's postgraduate and undergraduate portfolio, and hosts the BSc Business Economics degree, MSc & MA programmes in International Economic Policy and Analysis (which have recommended status with the UK’s Government Economic Service) and the MA International Development Management. The Department has a growing research profile, of national and international quality, with particular strengths in labour market economics (as part of the renowned Centre for Employment Research), financial economics and international and development economics.
We would like to recruit an economist able to make an immediate high quality and innovative contribution to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, whilst offering a good potential in research. For this appointment we are particularly interested in individuals with a demonstrated interest and ability in blended learning and teaching, who have some experience of delivering modules at undergraduate or postgraduate level. You will be required to teach on modules at a range of levels from undergraduate to Masters, and will continually revise and improve their delivery, using effective and student-focused teaching techniques, learning support and assessment methods.
A PhD (or one near to completion) is desirable and we have a preference for candidates able to offer expertise in one of our areas of research strength, but ability and potential are as important as subject specialism. Some teaching experience in higher education and a solid background in research are expected. Candidates are likely to be at a relatively early stage in their academic careers, but would be expected to be currently engaging in professional and academic research and/or other scholarly activities, to a nationally recognised standard.
