We are seeking a Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL to provide high-quality teaching and research within the Department of Modern Languages. The Department of Modern Languages delivers a range of degree programmes from Chinese to French, Italian, German and Spanish, as well as a very rich portfolio of additional languages through its Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP). Furthermore, the Department offers English as a Foreign Language, Linguistics and TESOL in a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

With a PhD and a track record of attracting research funds, you can expect to teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are keen to find someone with a growing research reputation, and we particularly welcome your application if you have experience in one or more areas of sociolinguistics, historical linguistics and pragmatics – while teaching English as a Foreign Language is essential. It will also be advantageous if you have experience of research-led programme development.
