We are seeking a Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL to provide high-quality teaching and research within the Department of Modern Languages. The Department of Modern Languages delivers a range of degree programmes from Chinese to French, Italian, German and Spanish, as well as a very rich portfolio of additional languages through its Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP). Furthermore, the Department offers English as a Foreign Language, Linguistics and TESOL in a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

With a broad and interdisciplinary research culture, we are proud to cut across traditional boundaries and cover a portfolio that includes Language & Translation Studies; Gender, Sexuality and Society; and corpus linguistics sociolinguistics and intercultural communication. An Associate Fellow with a PhD and a track record of attracting research funds, you can expect to design, develop and teach our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are keen to recruit someone with a growing research reputation and the ability to present at conferences and events. We will particularly welcome your application if you have experience in one or more areas of sociolinguistics, historical linguistics and pragmatics – while teaching English as a Foreign Language is essential. It will also be advantageous if you have experience of research-led programme development.
