£16,540 - £19,606 depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Applications are invited for the above post based at School of Biosciences – Division of Food Sciences at Sutton Bonington Campus. The post is part of a larger bioethanol production program within Bioenergy and Brewing Sciences.
The successful candidate will assist with the maintenance of equipment, prepare and analyse samples and assist with fermentations. It is expected that the post holder will maintain a safe work environment, carry out routine testing of quality requirements, check status of equipment, notify and take action on non-conformance where appropriate and be responsible for the equipment under control and maintain a high level of housekeeping in the work area. Preferably, the successful candidate would be experienced in sample analysis using gas or liquid chromatography.
Candidates should have a minimum of two A levels, or equivalent, in a relevant subject and have some work experience in a relevant technical role, or comprehensive work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role. In addition candidates should have good interpersonal skills, an understanding of health and safety regulations and be able to work both as part of a team and on their own initiative on basic technical activities.
This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 November 2014.
