Within our legal and commercial team, you will have responsibility for managing, protecting, commercialising & developing the University's Intellectual Property in the interface between research and business.
You will negotiate and influence a wide range of IP contracts in commercial, research and enterprise activities and advise on related matters. Our aim is to achieve value from both new income and also from developing collaborative relationships and enabling use of our IP in creative ways by a wide range of partners.
You will have:
- a science degree; a legal/ IP qualification or relevant experience; significant practical experience in negotiation of IP deals and managing IP
- knowledge of Contract and Intellectual Property Law
- the ability to think clearly and critically to make robust decisions and recommendations and to carry these through effectively
- the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with external parties, academic colleagues and management at all levels
- an ability to work under pressure and simultaneously progress a number of projects towards deadlines
- awareness of legal & commercial issues arising in public sector and industry interactions
Previous experience of working in IP management is essential and IP/ knowledge transfer experience in a Higher Education environment is desirable.
