The Technical Support team for the Faculty of Engineering and Design require a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated computer programmer to provide both technical and programming support within its main electronics and instrumentation services workshop.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing both technical and software support to staff and students as required to support a wide variety of concurrent projects. Substantial knowledge of computer programming principles coupled with specific knowledge of LabView programming for data acquisition and control applications is a must. The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of general programming in languages such as C, C++, Visual Basic and Matlab/Simulink.

You will work closely with customers in order to identify and understand their requirements, and to deliver innovative solutions to satisfy these. As part of the Instrumentation team, you will work with Technical and other colleagues across Faculty to maintain and deliver a high quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the University Engineering departments.

Applicants should be qualified to degree level in a relevant science or engineering discipline and be able to demonstrate competence and experience in computer programming. Previous experience of working within a higher education or research environment would be an advantage.

This full time position is offered on an open ended contact at a commencing salary of £25,298 per annum, rising to £31,076 per annum through annual increments.
