This exciting opportunity has arisen as part of a planned expansion of clinical academic staff to strengthen the research programme in Emergency and Critical Care within Warwick Medical School (WMS) - Health Sciences.
You will be employed by the University of Warwick and will hold an Honorary Consultant contract with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT). Clinical sessions will be undertaken on Trust premises at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals. You will provide specialist services in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care or Acute Medicine based on your area of interest and as agreed with the relevant Clinical Director.
Your main academic focus will be to develop high quality research programmes in clinical and cost effectiveness research in Emergency and Critical Care to complement the research strategy of both WMS and Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. As you will be responsible for establishing and developing a research and teaching programme based at WMS, a substantial fixed sessional allowance for both research and teaching activities has been included in the job plan.
To be successful in this role, you will have completed a higher research degree and will have extensive clinical experience and advanced skills in your clinical specialty. You will have an established research background in Health Sciences (including appropriate published original research of international quality) and demonstrable ability to establish new research projects, including successful grant applications. In addition to this you will be GMC registered with a licence to practice and will have membership with an appropriate medical defence organisation.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion of training.
