The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar and teacher to the Chichele Professorship of Social and Political Theory.
The Chichele Chair was instituted in 1944. The appointment will be held in the Department of Politics and International Relations and in conjunction with a Professorial Fellowship at All Souls College.
The successful applicant will be a scholar of international distinction with an outstanding record of research achievements in the academic field of contemporary and historical social and political thought and theory. S/he will be able to contribute to the department’s research culture and output, taking a leading role in raising the department’s research profile and generating income. S/he will also be an excellent teacher and supervisor of doctoral and masters students, and will contribute effectively to the department’s programme of research training for graduate students.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 23 November 2016.
Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.
