Lecturer Salary - £41,153 to £45,872 per annum with additional performance related pay up to £57,340 per annum

Senior Lecturer Salary - £50,507 to £56,295 per annum with additional performance related pay up to £70,367 per annum

The Centre for Aeronautics is one of the world’s largest centres of postgraduate education and research in aeronautics, with over 200 MSc and PhD students.  Amongst its programmes, the Centre delivers the world-renown MSc course in Aerospace Vehicle Design (AVD) which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. The course has three major components: lecture modules, a group design project and an individual research project. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic teachers and outstanding researchers and who will help maintain and expand further our portfolio.

For this role you will design and deliver lectures and tutorials as part of the taught MSc programme in Aerospace Vehicle Design, provide support to the Group Design Project element of the MSc, and to provide supervision for MSc individual research theses. You are expected to contribute to all three components of the AVD course and to its management. You will engage in research within the field of Structural Integrity/dynamics with a view to publishing high quality papers in high reputation research journals.

You must have expertise and experience in the mechanics and design of robust airframe structures. Essentially this covers a wider area, including structural integrity and damage tolerance, and structural dynamics.  Ideally, you will also have industrial and teaching experience, practical programming skills and a good command of commercial software applicable to structural integrity and dynamics.

You must have a relevant PhD in aeronautical/aerospace or applied mathematics/mechanical engineering and established research track record in the field. You will have quantifiable experience of winning and leading research and are expected to engage further with bidding, research and high quality publication in reputable research journals.
