There has never been a more exciting time to join Cardiff University. Our Way Forward Strategy led us to take out a £300m bond, which we are now investing in capital programmes which will transform the university. To manage the new risks it brings we’re seeking an experienced and highly credible Head of Internal Audit.
In this vital wide-ranging role, you’ll be responsible for developing and leading an internal audit service. The service is there to appraise our arrangements for risk management, control and governance and value for money, and to give an objective opinion on both, and provide strategic challenges. This is no ordinary audit role. In fact, you’ll have an incredibly busy agenda that involves challenges of all varieties.
Your relationship with our Chief Operating Officer and the members of our Audit Committee will be a crucial factor in your success, as will your ability to challenge and influence our diverse leadership team. Inspiring leadership is therefore essential and will help you manage a small internal audit team.
With significant experience already at this level, you will be an expert in all areas of audit and risk. You can produce high quality analysis, and assess vulnerability and exposure to business risk. A relevant qualification (e.g. CCAB) or membership of a professional body (such as CMIIA) will add to your gravitas. Confident and articulate, you’re an able negotiator who inspires trust and respect.
Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity. Our inclusive environment welcomes applications from talented people from diverse backgrounds.
