The Department of Classics and Ancient History seeks to appoint a senior academic as a Chair/Reader in Ancient Greek History or Ancient Greek Literature. The successful candidate will have an outstanding international reputation for their research and an exceptional track record of academic leadership, teaching and administration. They will be expected to demonstrate the highest professional standards in both research and education, and to attract excellent research students to Durham.
We welcome applications from exceptional scholars with research and teaching interests in the broad field of ancient Greek culture. Applications are equally welcome from scholars with a primary interest either in literature or in history, including cultural history.
Successful applicants will, ideally, be in post by 1 September 2017.
Interviews are anticipated to take place in early 2017.
